Florida Keys Spiny Lobster

Spiny lobsters are common in the Florida Keys and are harvest commercially and recreation-ally to eat. Once a year right before the beginning of the lobster season there is a lobster mini-season just for recreational divers. It is very popular and in many peoples opinions too popular, and is often a source of many out of towners receiving citations for not following fish and game laws.

Fantasy Fest – Key West


Fantasy Fest, probably one the largest costume parties in the world. It lasts a week long and is not really for the easily offended. Many costumes are very revealing, some peoples costumes consist of being nude.

Key West Tarpon Fishing

Although here all year round, in the spring the keys waters are filled with migrating tarpon. Thousands of these huge silvery fish show up from Key West to Key Largo. Anglers from around the world come here for chance to target these fish, which are commonly over hundred pounds.

Sea Turtle

Sea Turtles are common in the waters around the Keys and have been banned for harvest for some time now. For many years catching sea turtles for food was important industry in the keys and Key West.
